You don’t need an Uber, you don’t need a cab, or a bus pass, you got…a Pizza Hut delivery van! Ok, so perhaps Macklemore’s “Downtown” hit shouldn’t be changed. But a 21-year-old tourist from Chicago thought it was a pretty good idea to ditch any other transport options and steal the first pizza delivery car he saw and make haste to Wyoming airport.
Quinn McElwain’s friends reported him missing from the Elk Country Inn on Wednesday, at the same time a Pizza Hut driver reported his car stolen from outside the hotel.
The delivery vehicle was left running outside the inn with a load of pizzas awaiting delivery when the vehicle was stolen. In a rush to catch a flight to Chicago, it is alleged McElwain hopped in the idling Toyota SUV— loaded with pizzas and legged it to the airport. By the time authorities realised what had happened, McElwain was already en route to Chicago.
In a story that could only get more bizarre, McElwain is said to have paid cash for his flight home, where security were now awaiting him to land. Luckily for this alternative transport seeking tourist, security were at the wrong gate and McElwain slipped through the airport without recourse.
We can only assume that he had better judgment in his choice of airport parking options in his hometown and parked off airport. The last thing you want to have to worry about when you’re in a hurry like McElwain is where to park! At Ace Airport Parking you can avoid the hassle and book a spot in advance for your car.
