Set to open late 2017, Australia’s first surf park, URBNSURF Melbourne, will provide a unique recreation and leisure facility for the whole community.
The 320-metre lagoon will be a world class surfing lagoon almost twice the size of the MCG, generating multiple waves every 90 seconds, offer surfing classes and competitions.
Melbourne Airport is set to create the ultimate staycation with those chasing the ultimate wave no longer having to go on a worldwide expedition, surfers can head to Tullamarine for their fix. Attracting surfers from around the state, country and the world, along with those who want to learn.

Other water and play activities will be available including rock climbing, along with a licensed cafe, pro-surf shop and other retail shops.

Wavegarden wave generating technology has been in development for over 10 years, created and perfected by a team of 26 engineers based in Europe. The first commercial surf park facility featuring a Wavegarden lagoon opened in Wales in 2015, and another is due to open shortly in Austin, Texas. Both are already drawing keen tourism interest and investment to their regions.
The $18.5 million development, which has already received planning approval, is located adjacent to the Essendon Football Club.
