Take a Trip to the Only Structure Remaining Where Rembrandt Lived

It is unfortunate but only one structure where the famous artist used to live still remains. That structure, known as the Museum Het Rembrandthuis, is sure to be a more popular tourist hotspot throughout June than normal thanks to the “Year of Rembrandt” celebrations.

If you are lucky enough to be able to book a tour of the structure, located in the city’s canal quarter, you will be certain to enjoy taking a rare look at where some of the world’s most famous masterpieces were created.

See All of Rembrandt’s Paintings

Those who travelled to Amsterdam in the past were only able to see a limited number of masterpieces by Rembrandt, but that changes this year.

This year, the Rijksmuseum is using advanced modern technology to display all available paintings, prints, and drawings from the artist. It is a rare opportunity to see everything that is available of this wonderful artist in one place – 22 paintings, over 300 prints, and 60 drawings. They will be displayed together until June 10.

See a Painting being Restored

Part of the celebration of Rembrandt’s death will involve restoring a masterpiece in a way that allows the public to see the restoration process. One of Rembrandt’s masterpieces, The Night Watch, will be placed in a glass chamber and restoration experts will be working on it throughout the day. This painting was famously slashed with a knife in 1975 and this will be the first attempt at the painstaking restoration process in full view of the world.

Time it Right and Enjoy the Taste of Amsterdam

If you time it right and plan to be in Amsterdam around the 31 of May to 3 of June, you will certainly want to grab tickets to the Taste of Amsterdam. This food festival will allow you to try some of the most unique dishes and culinary creations from some of the top chefs throughout the country set amongst a festival atmosphere of music and fun. It is a one-stop-shop for foodies who love to try something new while they are on holiday. The festival will have 24 restaurants showcasing over 100 delectable dishes, alongside taste testing opportunities, chef masterclasses and cooking demonstrations.
